Thanks to you it's been a transformative year!

The Ronald K. De Long Gallery opened 2017 with Michael Brolly: REDUX, highlighting Brolly's distinctive wood turning style and combination of sculptural materials. He even graced Center Hall with his ground breaking invention Sephira, the Musical Ark, designed to help humans understand how to communicate with the whales.

In April, we turned our sights to the historically significant work in Hubert Davis: Scenes of Pennsylvania. Davis was a local American lithographic artist who communicated the effects of the Depression for the W.P.A. - Works Progress Administration. Two other Allentown galleries exhibited Davis' work to make this a truly memorable, collaborative community event.

Throughout the summer, we hosted THOMAS MANN'S Trajectory Heart Lehigh Valley, an innovative community art project where students and artists worked with Mann to create the Trajectory Heart sculpture, assist in the gallery, and travel the Heart around the Lehigh Valley.

When the students came back to campus in August, they were surprised to find the De Long Gallery converted into a multimedia, site specific, installation created by Daisuke Shintani & Atsuko Tajima, called DIGEST.

In October, The Community Gallery was the launch site for the PBS39 community engagement project The War is Still With Us, showing community submitted images of the Vietnam War. Life-defining stories recorded by the artists accompanied these images.

The school year ended with Heather Sincavage: a measure of, using the human body as a unit of measurement to examine the potency of our emotions. The word transformed, best describes the effect this exhibit had on the visitors who attended the gallery talks, performance and lecture.
